A child, barely old enough to walk held a great wolf on a leash and they went down a rough track till they could go no further.  Before the two of them was a great oak door, its bolts were heavy and far beyond the reach of the child.  They stop at the door and the child lets go of the leash to open the heavy door, though it is obvious he could not.  The wolf seeing it is free devours the child that had held it.

A scene is repeated, a child that is now in his mid teens comes face to face with the same dilemma, when he releases the wolf he is too devoured.

A man walks along the path, he is confident in all he does.  He sees the door up ahead and has the forsight to know what is coming next. He stops short of the door and draws a dagger from beneath his cloak.  He slays the wolf before they reach the heavy Oak door and passes into that which is beyond.
