The Magus: I

Of the Magus they would not believe, though this is as it happened.  A power like a vortex erupted from my mid section, I found myself looking in a world that was not my own but in another way was.  The room in which I had been seated was the same room.  The whole place seemed alive with a multitude of colour, not like anything I had known before.  It was like looking a painting of the room, though the colours seemed ludicrous in their vividness.

In the distance there appeared a great eye that was bright green in colour, as though guiding me to other places.  I found it easy to move and merely moved as though a bird in the great vault of the heavens.  There is something that is like nothing imaginable, it is like the four worlds, one within the next.  Almost as though I look into the grail itself.

In the journey through these four worlds I come to a place where no thought is dark, where everything is sugar coated.  It is almost amusing in a way, of all the things a child would like.  Eventually this is passed and there is a gate I approach.  To the left and right are two vast pillars upon which are statues of golden lions.  This is the gate into which I enter a city, there are four entrances.

Within the city walls is a vast building that is approached by a wide steps.  There are many people within.  People that I have known from centuries gone, of battles we fought together.  Though this baffles me greatly, we talk as though we had merely lost contact for a while.  It is most strange.

The room seems to part as I see the great door open at the far end of the room.  They shove me forward and I stand upon a square that is painted on the floor.  to the left and right are twin pillars, they seeming to ask who it is that I am.  A name utters from my lips that I knew not, they beckon me to enter.  Within is a figure that looks adorned like an eagle embraces me and says to pass to his right.

There is a tunnel that the others are not aware of and a chamber at the end of that tunnel.  Within is a small table upon which are the four elemental emblems.  These being a dagger, a chalice, a wand and a pentangle.  There is also a book that seems suspended in the air, the record of all that has been.

There are several scrolls in the walls behind, a gate that leads into darkness.  This I pass through and awaken.  My mind seeming to have floated like a feather down to my body.  As I open my eyes it is strange.  I wonder at what has happened.

There was a great deal to absorb, I feel the need to sleep however.  Upon closing my eyes light erupts like a bolt of lightning of the darkness that strikes me wholly in the eye that perceived these things.  As I open my eyes I cannot stand.  There is no strength left in my limbs.  What had struck me had taken everything that I formerly was.  As I laid back there was a simple realisation that I simply didn't exist any longer.  That which I had been ten minutes ago had now ceased to be.  In a chair there was nothing but a body that was empty, with not the strength to raise itself.
